Year 5 and 6 have been studying the Tudors and as part of their learning they went on a visit to the newly reopened Mary Rose in Portsmouth. They had a fabulous day! They participated in workshops and had the opportunity to try on Tudor clothing and categorise artefacts. They planned a French naval invasion and even had the opportunity to fire a Tudor gun. This was in addition to a guided tour of the Mary Rose itself. Everyone had an amazing day and were in awe to how close to history they could get!

They were tremendous ambassadors for the school and on their return, the school was sent the following email:

It was a real joy to meet you and the children!  The whole team was deeply impressed by all the pupils.  They are beautifully mannered and so keen to learn!  A delight to teach and to welcome to the museum!  They are such a credit to you, to the school, to their parents and themselves!

I was very impressed by the way in which the group that I was lucky enough to teach responded to the Two Minute Silence in memory of those who were killed in Paris last year.  In the middle of all the excitement of handling replica artefacts and dressing up, the children were deeply respectful and perfectly silent.  You must be very proud of them.  They really are outstanding in every way!

Please pass on our thanks to your colleagues and to the children.
