Our Year 6 children had an amazing day stepping back in time to the Victorian era. They spent the day at the Poole Museum and experienced what life would have been life for a workhouse child trying to get employment in a kitchen of a large house. They learnt recipes off by heart and had to work hard to impress Mrs Jellie with their cooking skills.
In the afternoon, they entered Mr Stern’s schoolroom and wrote on slates and with pen and ink, participated in ‘Drill’ and learnt geographical facts by rote.
They all thoroughly enjoyed their time, although they all said they prefer to be children of the 21st century!
